The Gardening Club meets at the Boxted and Hartest Institute in Hartest, normally on the first Monday of the month, at 7.30pm, and usually to listen to a visiting speaker. The admission cost for the evening for members is only £2.00, which includes refreshments - £3.00 for visitors. Our meetings in June and July are visits to local gardens, entry cost will be set by the garden owner.

Apart from the meetings and visits, other benefits of club membership - which costs £10.00 for 2019-2020 - include the chance to buy vegetable and flower seeds at heavily discounted prices. We have a magazine swap and are also affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society.

We hold a Flower, Vegetable and Produce Show every September, which you don't have to be a member to enter - please look at the Show page for more details. There is also a very helpful page of hints on how to exhibit and pages of results of previous shows and many photographs.

Our December meeting - for members only - includes a meal and a quiz, resulting in the "Gardening Brain of Hartest".

Although based in Hartest, we have members from many local villages. If you are interested in joining, come along to a meeting or contact a committe member.

We were formed at an Inaugural meeting on November 16th 1987, as can be seen :
